Mission
Statement: The Junior League of Abilene is
an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism,
to developing the potential of women and to improving
the community through the effective action and leadership
of trained volunteers.
Vision Statement: The Junior
League of Abilene is committed to enhancing the lives
of children in our community. Through development and
training of women as volunteers and leaders, we will effectively
meet the needs of our community.
Priority #1: Promoting Voluntarism
Become the premier volunteer organization in the Abilene
community
1. Encourage new membership growth, increase sustainer
involvement, and generate ideas and suggestions that will
improve the satisfaction of all members.
2. Instill a sense of pride and commitment in our organization
3. Encourage increased participation by all members in
community projects
4. Utilize communication tools to promote the mission
of the League and to reach out to all women in our community
who have an interest in voluntarism.
5. Ensure sufficient funds available to continually expand
the volunteer opportunities available.
Priority #2: Developing the
Potential of Women
Provide our community with well trained volunteers
& leaders
1. Provide meaningful education and training opportunities
geared toward developing the leadership potential of women
2. Align League activities and resources to achieve League
goals through preparation and review of annual work plans
3. Educate membership and community on current and proposed
community projects and needs.
4. Utilize communication tools to provide training information
to develop the potential of the membership
5. Implement an Annual Giving program to ensure sufficient
financial resources to allow continued training opportunities
to be provided to all members
Priority #3: Community
Improvement
Be a leading force in the betterment of our community,
primarily through projects that enhance the lives of children.
1. Increase community impact through increasing community
placements to 40% of total active member placements.
2. Conduct periodic assessments of community needs proposing
new projects that are in alignment with our Mission and
Vision.
3. Implement, monitor, and evaluate current League projects
to ensure continued positive community impact.
4. Enhance public awareness of the League's impact in
the community.
5. Implement an Endowment campaign to ensure the ability
to meet the needs of the community well into the future.
