Project Chair: Tracy Hines
The Junior League of Abilene, in partnership with Child
Protective Services of the Texas Department of Protective
and Regulatory Services, is building an alliance between
the public and private sectors to prevent abuse and neglect
of children in our community through the promotion of community
involvement, the education and awareness of child abuse,
neglect and abandonment among the general public. This project
consists of two components: Adopt-A-Caseworker program which
matches CPS caseworkers with community groups to provide
goods and services to meet the needs of abused and neglected
children and their families and the Bluebonnet Room which
maintains an inventory of formula, diapers, clothing, cleaning
supplies, toys, etc that all caseworkers can access in an
emergency situation for the children they serve. The League
provides funding and volunteers to purchase, stock and organize
the inventory.
